Sectra and Electromek Diagnostic Systems bring osteoporosis prevention service to Midwestern women
International medical imaging IT company, Sectra (STO: SECT B) announces an agreement with Electromek Diagnostic Systems to distribute its osteoporosis screening product, Sectra OneScreen. This online service enables healthcare providers to offer women a bone health exam at the same time as having their regular mammogram, enabling the early detection of osteoporosis and helping to reduce the risk of future fractures.
Post-menopausal women comprise a risk group for osteoporosis, one of the most painful and costly diseases in the world. In severe cases, osteoporosis can cause fractures which, in turn, can cause great suffering and, at worst, death. Sectra OneScreen is a simple first step in identifying patients in the risk group for osteoporosis.

By offering early detection of osteoporosis, mammography clinics can take a more comprehensive responsibility in diagnosing severe diseases in women, while at the same time increasing profitability in diagnostic imaging through high utilization of their mammography equipment in a rapid workflow. Clinics and hospitals in the US and Europe, including the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Norway, provide Sectra OneScreen in conjunction with mammography examinations.
The service is based on a single, standard x-ray of the hand which is taken on the same equipment as the breast images. There is no need for additional investment in equipment, staff, or examination rooms. Sectra OneScreen is a low dose, cost-effective method to predict future fractures and identify at-risk individuals.
