Linköping, Sweden – March 12, 2019 – International medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra (STO: SECT B) has delivered its secure smartphone, Sectra Tiger/R, to two Swedish healthcare regions. Sectra’s solution will enable the regions to securely communicate sensitive or classified information within their organizations and with central government authorities.

Sectra Tiger/R is an encryption solution for smartphones and tablets. Within the two regions, Sectra Tiger/R will be used by key individuals in the security organizations to communicate sensitive information, such as crisis preparedness, information security or incident response capability.

The solution will be delivered as a service, whereby the system’s infrastructure and administration will be managed by Sectra. The regions will thus gain a cost-efficient solution that can be swiftly and easily implemented in day-to-day operations while avoiding high investment thresholds.

“In today’s environment, hospitals are the target of organized cyber attacks, and this represents a serious threat to patient integrity and the efficiency of healthcare. At Sectra, we have a globally unique combination of healthcare and secure communications through our Secure Communications and Medical Imaging IT Solutions operating areas. This allows us to provide optimal support to customers in their efforts to tackle these challenges,” says Torbjörn Kronander, President and CEO of Sectra AB.

About Sectra Tiger/R
Sectra Tiger/R has been developed with a particular focus on addressing the challenges posed by security and performance. For example, these could involve moving between different types of networks without losing the connection, an efficient connection that enables streamed voice and video despite a poor network, and protection against malicious codes for centrally located services exposed to the internet. In doing so, the solution delivers effective, encrypted communication with colleagues.

The solution is based on Sectra’s technology for encrypted calls and chat as well as Sectra’s VPN. Together, these elements create a secure “tunnel” between the mobile device and the organization’s internal network via the internet. This enables information to be shared and made available also in mobile environments without a risk of data falling into the wrong hands.

The solution has been developed as part of a strategic partnership with Samsung and can be used on the latest models of smartphones and tablets without any need for customization.

Certified crypto solution
As one of a small number of solutions for mobile communications, Sectra Tiger/R has received KSU (Krypto för Skyddsvärda Uppgifter, [EN: Crypto for Sensitive Information]) approval, which permits the use of the solution to protect particularly sensitive information. The solution is therefore well suited for use in the protection of sensitive information on the basis of the requirements stipulated in the Swedish Protective Security Act (SFS 2018:585), which will come into force on April 1, 2019.
